Legacy Update: Analyzing the Format's Current Trends

Explore the latest trends in Legacy with a focus on popular decks, win rates, and the overall health of the format as of May 2026.

Howdy folks! It's time yet again for another edition of This Week in Legacy! As of this writing, the aggregate sheet is sitting around close to 7,900 entries since 11/10/2025, which is when card-ref:Entomb and Nadu were banned. Currently, Legacy remains a Tempo-centered format, with a significant presence of spell-based combo decks. At the top of the most played decks, we have Dimir Tempo with 1,022 copies and a 52.3% non-mirror win rate, followed closely by Izzet Tempo at 543 copies with a 49.8% win rate. The popularity of these decks serves as a great introduction for newer players to the format. Notably, Oops comes in third with 534 copies and a 52.4% win rate, while Sneak and Show holds fourth place with 386 copies and a 53.1% win rate. Rounding out the top five is card-ref:Eldrazi with 341 copies and a 52% win rate. The health of Legacy appears strong, especially after the card-ref:Entomb ban, with diverse strategies still thriving. This week, Tron emerged as the most played deck with a 59.2% non-mirror win rate, indicating its dominance in the current metagame. As the format evolves, it will be interesting to see how players adapt and what strategies emerge to counter these popular decks.
